Start with the interiors
The single most common deduction we see relates to appliance interiors. Ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and microwaves get emptied on moving day but rarely get cleaned. An inspector opens every one of them.
The same applies to cabinets, drawers, and closets. Once they are empty, the crumbs, dust, and liner residue that accumulated over a tenancy are fully visible for the first time.

The edges of every room
Furniture hides a great deal. Once a room is empty, the perimeter becomes the most inspected part of the property — baseboards, corners, and the marks left where furniture sat against walls.
Window tracks are the other reliable deduction. They collect grit and debris throughout a tenancy and are almost never cleaned until the final inspection makes them impossible to ignore.

Bathrooms get the closest look
Bathrooms are inspected more carefully than any other room because build-up there is both visible and difficult to fake. Limescale on fixtures, grout discolouration, and residue in the shower tray all read as poor upkeep rather than normal wear.
Descaling taps and showerheads makes a disproportionate difference. It is a small job that changes how the whole room reads to an inspector.
Document the finished condition
Once the property is clean, photograph it. Dated photographs of an empty, clean property are the most effective protection against a disputed deduction weeks later.
